PLOS Climate ICUC12 call for papers

The editors of the Open Access journal PLOS Climate invite submissions from participants in the 12th International Conference on Urban Climate for an article series covering the full scope of the conference. We aim to bring together a diversity of contributions, including from different disciplinary and geographical perspectives, and to communicate these to a broad, action-oriented audience. Articles will be highlighted through blogs, social media and (where appropriate) press releases to maximise visibility.

We welcome contributions under any of the article types published in the journal: Research Articles, Reviews, Essays and Opinions. For more information about our article types, please see here. Complete submission guidelines are available here.

All submissions will be subject to PLOS Climate’s standard editorial and peer review processes, and will be assessed by members of the journal’s editorial board.

Accepted Research Articles will be subject to an article processing charge. However, this fee is automatically waived for corresponding authors whose primary affiliation is to an institution in a Group A or B Research4Life country, and for corresponding authors whose institution has a partnership with PLOS. There are no fees for Reviews, Essays or Opinions.

Submissions should be made through PLOS Climate’s Editorial Manager portal. Please ensure that you refer to the ‘ICUC12 article series’ in your cover letter.

The deadline for submissions is 30 November 2025. Accepted articles will be published and highlighted on a continuous basis, with the full article series expected to be complete by mid 2026.

Please direct any questions to PLOS Climate’s Executive Editor Dr Jamie Males.
